Peer Mentor (Postgraduate), School of Materials Science and Engineering

The School of Materials Science and Engineering Postgraduate Society (MSE PGSOC) runs the peer mentoring program for new research postgraduate students commencing throughout the year. The program is tailored to support new postgraduate students in making a successful transition to their research degree and life in Sydney.

Responsibilities

Providing first year research postgraduate students with academic and social support to facilitate the transition to a postgraduate degree.

How to get involved

Postgraduate students of the School of Materials Science and Engineering. Students interested in volunteering as a peer mentor in this program must have completed as least one semester of study.

Training

A one-day training session is mandatory to attend. The training session will be an introduction to being an effective and supportive mentor.

Duration

At least 20 hours, from individual mentor-mentee meetings, program meetings, social events and training. The program runs by semester. Semester 1 will be from February to May, and Semester 2 from July to November.
