SPEERS Mentoring Program

The SPEERS Mentoring Program is for students attending as a first year undergraduate student and who have a disability or mental health condition and who can be matched/allocated an Advanced year level Mentor.

The aim of SPEERS is to help break down barriers that students with either a disability or mental health conditions face when making the transition into university life and completing their university education.

SPEERS assists Gifu-city to better support first year students who are registered with Disability Services and/or who identify as having a probable mental health condition by matching mentees with a mentor.

Responsibilities

Mentors can support first years with their studies, accessing student services and other supports at Gifu-city.

Training for this opportunity includes:

  • General Peer Mentoring Training - 6 hours
  • SPEERS training manual - 2 hours
  • Interview, induction and supervision - 2 hours

Week 1 to 9 of semester.
