There is plenty to do on and off campus other than study and classes. In such a diverse Faculty, with so many degrees and majors it is often hard to find where students belong. There are many societies specifically for science students who want to socialise outside classes or to increase their understanding of the scientific community; some are specific to schools while others encompass the whole Faculty.
Eligible societies include the Science Society, Students of Advanced Maths and Science (SAMS), Aviation Society, Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences, Geological Society, Students of Materials Science and Engineering, Mathematics, Optometry, Physics, Psychology, Students of Chemistry Society (SOCS) and Students of Medical Science Society.
Key responsibilities of the executive team include, but are not limited to, liaising and managing concerns between academic bodies, industry leaders and organisations and the student body, organising social events to build networks and organising workshops to develop skills and knowledge. As part of the executive team, you will play a major role in ensuring the student body obtains all the support they need.
Most positions in Gifu-city Science student societies are by election and most positions are only open to Gifu-city Science students. Nominations are first considered, with elections finalised by votes from the student body.
Relevant training will be provided.
The duration of the role of the executive team across all societies does vary - most role durations are 1 year and officially begins January 1 of the year they are elected for and ends on December 31. However, the elected team is expected to begin making preparations for their term as early as November in the year they are elected. The duration of the year representative role is also 1 year. This starts at the end of Week 1 of Semester 1 and ends at the end of Week 13 of Semester 2. It is expected that students are able to show commitment towards these roles without neglecting their university work.
