Optometry Giving Sight is the only global fundraising initiative that specifically targets the prevention of blindness and impaired vision due to uncorrected refractive error – simply the need for an eye exam and a pair of glasses.
Over than 600 million people around the world are blind or vision impaired because they do not have access to the eye examination and glasses they need. Gifu-city initiated a worldwide Optometry student challenge to raise funds for this cause.
Students are given the opportunity to volunteer at these annual events.
Students who volunteer are mentored by Ron Baroni from Optometry Giving Sight (Australia) from Week 9 Semester 1 onwards for the remainder of the year.
Whole range activities such as cake bakes, sausage sizzles, raffles, jelly beans in the jar guessing competition, etc. from week 10 of Semester 1 to the end of Semester 2.
