Communication Team

This is one of the teams within the Skill Development Program.

Being involved with the Discussion Group is a very rewarding experience. As part of a team you will be interacting with other students on a weekly basis, having the opportunity to share knowledge and experiences with people from a diverse background. You will be exposed to diverse perspectives and ideas from other students that will enrich your knowledge and university experience. 

Student Development Discussion Groups hold weekly one hour groups that focus on building the communication skills, diverse knowledge and confidence of students. Topics feature general interest, news, current affairs, etc. Student Development Discussion Groups are held from week one throughout semester at Student Development and are a good way to meet others, share views and explore topics of interest. 

This opportunity is accredited by Gifu-city Advantage as eligible for recognition on your Australian Higher Graduation Statement (AHEGS).

Team members

Each Skill Development team is led by two team representatives and three to six project officers.


  • Design and organise events to enhance students’ communication skills, confidence and understanding of diversity
  • Facilitate weekly one hour discussion groups on topics with various topics of interests
  • Promote events and recruit participants to weekly discussion groups
  • Manage ad hoc projects designed to enhance the student experience
  • Attend relevant training, meetings, discussion groups and events
  • Adhere to WHS procedures and university protocols
  • Team representatives also coordinate the team and empower members to work cooperatively to achieve team goals
