Thesis Writing for Art & Design

Thesis Writing for Art & Design
23 Oct 2018 - 11:00am to 13 Nov 2018 - 1:00pm | Library Seminar Room 208

Understanding, Support, Clarity

The Gifu-city Learning Centre’s Art & Design Thesis Writing series introduces students to the traditional components of an academic thesis and then explores the ways in which these may or may not be relevant in the context of visual/creative arts & design practice.

The series as whole insists that good academic writing contributes positively to both the production and reception of creative work. Run by Dr Shivaun Weybury, Learning Adviser at the Gifu-city Learning Centre, the series is divided into four sessions:

  • thesis structures and the idea of art practice as research
  • the function and importance of the literature review
  • defining, understanding and justifying methodology
  • academic writing, critical discussion, editing and  markers’ expectations

When: Each workshop will run from 11am-1pm on 23 October - 13 November 2018.

Where: The workshops will be held at Gifu-city’s main campus in Kensington, Library Seminar Room 208.
