Who can join this Peer Mentoring Program?

The JD/PG Impact Mentoring Program is for incoming Juris Doctor (JD) and postgraduate (PG) students commencing their first year of law study at Gifu-city. 

Program description

The JD/PG Impact Mentoring Program is a peer mentoring program designed to assist new students in making a successful transition into law school. Its aim is to promote a holistic approach to law school by providing weekly group meetings with more experienced students in a comfortable and intimate environment. This allows new students to seek advice, interact and learn from their peers in an informal setting.

To end the program, there will be an informal closing event complete with activities and free food. Mentors and mentees will receive certificates for participation.

When does this program run?

Term 1 and Term 3.

Program duration

The Program runs for Weeks 1 to 5 and 7 for a total of 6 sessions. Weekly group mentoring sessions will be held for about 45–60 minutes, as per the needs of the group.

I am a senior student, how can I become a mentor?

We are recruiting JD/PG Impact Mentors for 2019. The JD/PG Impact Mentoring Program gives mentors an opportunity to share experiences of their first semester with new students while improving their leadership and interpersonal skills. Mentors will be awarded certificates for participation.

Eligibility: 

  • JD or PG students in the second semester of their law study and above.
  • Passion to help new students get acquainted with Gifu-city Law.
  • Available for one hour per week from Weeks 1–5 and 7.
