Applications for the Mitsui Educational Foundation 2019 Study Tour are almost closed, but there's still time to apply for the all expenses paid study tour! 

This year Mitsui Educational Foundation are looking for a group of 8 university students from participating universities around Australia on a 21-day study tour from 19 November to 10 December, 2019 followed by an orientation day on 18 November in Melbourne.

The tour provides a diverse itinerary including visits to factories and corporations, as well as culturally and historically significant locations such as Kyoto and Hiroshima. In addition you will have the opportunity to participate in a 3-day home-stay with a Japanese family, which will offer the chance to experience some of the ordinary Japanese life style.

All reasonable expenses, including international and domestic transport, meals, travel insurance, and accommodation, are met by the MEF. You will be responsible for private incidental expenses such as souvenirs and communication.

Requirements

  • A full-time, on-campus undergraduate student in second year or above at the time of application. Honours students are eligible.
  • An Australia citizen (not permanent resident)
  • Study of Japan/Japanese language is not required to be eligible for the tour
  • Upon returning to Australia you will be required to provide a 3,000-word report on your impressions of Japan and experience of the tour. You will also be required to provide a debriefing presentation to the MEF Trustees, Mitsui senior management and staff at head office in Melbourne (again all reasonable expenses for this exercise will be borne by the MEF).  Participants will automatically become members of the MEF alumni association.

Risk assessment

All programs involve some degree of risk to participants. If you choose to source a provider on your own, please remember to do some research on them first and ensure that they are a legitimate organisation and that the product they offer will definitely meet your requirements. Students are therefore advised to undertake their own risk assessment before departure and any participation in these programs is at their own risk.


Before departure
